This word has been used a lot lately around my house (mainly by my son…!) Do you collect things? Do you have things around your house that you love? Say your house was on fire and you could grab 2 things, what would they be? Now it sounds like I am very materialistic…NOT! If it came to my family I would gnaw someone’s arm off to get to them! Seriously! Soooo everyone you love is safe…. what things would you keep no matter what….even when things go out of style, you are keeping it…..???? Think about it and let me know. Here are a few of mine.
Our Blues Brothers.....we LOVE these guys!!!!
My computer...it contains all my treasured photos
I LOVE this swan...it goes where I go!
and...yes this mean ol' fat cat! Yes, she has her own pillow!
My first anniversary gift. Think I could carry this on my back with "fat" cat in my arms???
I spent this past week with my best friend. When I say best friend I use this word lightly. She is my sister as much as if we had the same mother. Funny thing about us, we can go over a year without seeing each other and when I get there, I am at home. I guess that is the way it is when you really love someone. I went to see her so she wouldn’t be alone while her husband was out of town and to be with her when she started her first day of chemo. Even though I went for a yucky reason, as usual, she was so much fun and her normal crazy self. She doesn’t know a stranger and I remember thinking how friendly everyone there was….then I realized it was just her. We didn’t go into a store (and we went into a lot!) that we didn’t leave almost knowing everyone in the place. She is amazing! We took her “baby” shopping with us all day Tuesday (see below) and everywhere we went she was the center of attention. Then when we went to the doctor, she had the Oncology nurses almost believing we had a margarita machine in the car! She is a nut! So far she has tolerated the chemo very well…..YEAH!
The last night I was there, we met her daughter and boyfriend for dinner and they ordered her a birthday cake and we all sang her happy birthday..except it wasn’t her birthday….it was happy first day of chemo….the first day of the rest of her life!
This is her little "Harley" dog!
While I was gone my sweet grand babies and their mommy all were sick. I drove straight to their house to find my sweet babies looking pitiful and so extremely sick. My daughter is such an amazing mom, she had gone without sleep just caring for babies night and day and didn’t even realize that she was extremely ill. I was so worried, I prayed on and off all night for Little Miss Mai, Jaxy, and mommy. Thank the Lord they are all on the mend! They had to cancel little Jax first birthday party but he won’t care as long as he has his mommy……he was pretty glad to see his Gigi too!
Poor baby girl!
I can't believe our baby will be ONE this week!!!!!!!
Isn’t it funny how things seem to all happen at the same time…..it is just life and isn’t life truly wonderful?!!!!
I have an unusual attraction to balls…not basketballs, footballs, soccer balls or GOLF BALLS…decorator balls. What is weird is that one of my best friends and shopping buddies has the same attraction. Now I have to admit this attraction has made our husbands laugh more than once. As a matter of fact, anytime we head out shopping together they come up with something clever to say. You can just imagine!
Here are a few of my favs!
These have numbers & letters! These seem to really bother people that don't understand my love of balls. They always seem confused & ask if they are golf balls and what I am doing wtih them!!! Whatever!!!!!
A mixture of all sorts of balls....
I have these in green too. When I found them & was in line paying, a lady wanted to know what they were "for" and "why" did I want them. Really! Get over it lady!
Glass balls..this one belonged to my mom. I think it could be hereditary.
Metal garden balls....
This is leather with jute...awww
Balls used as candles?
...under glass, ok I admit, I have a problem!
By the way, every ball (except for the letter/number “golf balls” hehe) I bought on sale at least 1/2 off!
On Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925, my daddy, Van E. Alderson was born. Every Easter he would tell us the story that when he was born his ears were so big that they thought he was the Easter bunny! I would giggle and giggle! I can’t believe that it has been almost 12 years since he went to heaven.
Some days I struggle to remember my dad. Little things like his face, his manner….and I get scared that I will forget. Today as we celebrate Easter with our family my heart aches knowing this is another holiday without our parents. Yet as I look around I know that they are with us and I totally remember my dad. How could I forget? My brother is my dad. His looks, his manner, his farming skills….is like my dad. When I look at our children I see my dad’s brilliant blue eyes shining up at me. My dad’s eyes were sooo blue it was almost unbelievable. My brother and I have them, our children, and now our grandchildren. I also realize that some of our kids have his big ears, although the girls cover them with hair, my son has to embrace them. Although much taller, my son has his jawline, build and as he gets older his work ethic.
Awww…daddy you are with me everywhere I look! Even as I look out the back of my brothers home, I see the farmland. . .the land my brother farms, you farmed and your father farmed. I love the land. I get a lump in my throat every time I see the improvements we have made and I know you would approve.
Today we tell our grandchildren the Easter story, the story of our precious savior’s death on the cross and how He arose. We rejoice that HE IS ALIVE! I know that because of His sacrifice you and mom are in heaven smiling down on us. You are here with us! We will see you again one day!
Thank you for being a wonderful example and leaving a legacy of love to each of us. I can just see you and mom tonight doing a waltz to the music of your favorite song…..sung by the heavenly choir. I am going to tell the story of how the day you were born your parents thought you were the Easter bunny…can’t wait to hear the giggles from your great-grand babies!!!
Happy Easter Mom & Dad and Happy Birthday Daddy!
I love letters, numbers and signs. It is just something that makes me happy. I am not really into all the vinyl wall words but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great, I just like to change things up too often to spend the bucks and then remove them. My sister-in-law has them all over her house and it looks beautiful! Here are some of my favorites and some I wish I had.
My all time favorite..
Initials of all my loves names.....
This is vinyl in my laundry room
numbers & letters on a ball...I LOVE balls
I want this store sign soooo bad!
Oh my, would kill for these from Pottery Barn!!!!
I love this store! Now I know a lot of you are like….yuck! Really? Several years ago I went in and my first thoughts were that it reminded me of a garage sale. Well, since that time I have learned to love it. My daughter, who is always so busy, can have a company party, nothing to wear and the party is that night. She walks in and looks like she walked off of Vogue magazine. She will be in a Maggie London dress, boots that look like they came from an upscale shop and a killer purse. Then she tells me she spent maybe $100 for everything. TJ MAXX! For childrens clothes and home decor……it’s my favorite place to go!!! Here are some of my favorite finds.
I bought 2 of these...check out the price at Pottery Barn..this $14
I love odd things
