We used to laugh about the things my mom would say…like Walmark, KMark, Shags (for Skaggs Albertsons…do you babies even remember this store?), she had an “optimistic” Christmas tree instead of an fiber-optic tree, couldn’t say the name KEVIN..it came out CALVIN, and hundreds of other things that I would roll my eyes at. Well…..the old saying ….what goes around, comes around…It rings true!!!
I was telling my very smart alec daughter about my son’s MY SPACE account and in the email I got confused and wrote…...SPACEBOOK!!!!!! Oh my, they (meaning her and her husband) thought it was so funny they laughed so hard they couldn’t talk…tears in their eyes…even when she was telling me she couldn’t get the words out. This is her exact words, “we could just hear Granda saying….oh my, those kids are on that….SPACEBOOK thingy on the internet!” Then breaking back into uncontrollable laughter!!!!
I AM NOT OLD!!!! I repeat……I AM NOT OLD!!!!!
Then only minutes later we are talking about her dad joining the gym and she is wondering if the trainer set him up on a work-out plan. I tell her that they want him to start slow…20 minutes of CARDIAC………….cracking up she says “CARDIO!”
What the heck……..I am my mom and tomorrow I am looking for the nearest Shag’s to buy a new Optimistic Tree!!!!!!!
Watch out kids…..you are next!
This project was so fun that I am sad it is done. I have a small guest room and in it was an old king size bedroom suite that was WAY to big! I sold the king furniture on Craig’s list, as well as the bedding and some old décor, with that money I totally redecorated the room. Greg calls it my “design on a dime” room.
The walls were “ UT Orange” as my son informed me. And it was just way too crowded.
I painted it a light linen, khaki color and wanted to utilize a great chair I had in our basement. Initially, I was going to do it all black and white until I found a great apple green pillow for the purple chair. Then it hit me!!!!! This is my room sooo…gardening…green….girlie…you get the picture! I love it! It is my favorite room in the house. You can not believe the great bargains I got on all of the furniture and accessories. I think that is what made it so fun! Everything came from Penneys, TJ Maxx (of course), Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Target, Ross and Etsy! I also used things I already had and painted them black. Check it out!
The screen hides a pack n' play & file cabinet
On this plant shelf I put all of my favorite pics & collections from my mom & dad.
We had our babies all day Sunday and had so much fun! We played barbies, dress-up, chase, hide ‘n seek, ballet…and Peepaw even did ballet! Now that was quite a site! (Now that would have been a great picture!) Of course he was told amidst tons of giggles that he was NOT a ballerina. Then we made silly noises and crawled around on our hands and knees, patty caked and peep-eyed! Grand babies are the best, I guess that is why they are called Grand!! Couldn’t you just eat ’em up?!
This crawling is hard work for a "chunky" boy!!
Somehow the tongue action helps ya out!
No nap today...
A while back I re-finished my mom’s old nesting tables. Several of you have wanted to see the finished product. This was so much fun and I learned A LOT!! I can’t wait to find something else to re-do and try out some new distressing techniques I found here. I crackled these before faux painting. Those of you from around here, I got the idea from furniture I saw at Hulla B’Lu. I think mom would love them, what do you think?
In My Office
Even though it is supposed to snow tomorrow, our lawn is fescue so it loves this weather! It is green and growing fast. Poor Greggie is already mowing once a week!
“Gigi, does my PeePaw mow ever day?”
“No honey, he doesn’t…it just seems like it”
“Nope, Gigi! I think he is a mower man . . . yep he’s a mower man!”
Since early January I have been ready for spring! So here are few easy and simple (and budget wise) things I did to bring “green” into my home. Makes me smile!
Wheat grass...grows 3" a day!
Wheat grass...and parsley
Little green eggs...
Inexpensive green pillows from my guest bedroom....
A few green apples..
I am babying these until warm enough to plant
Talk about going green! Let the mowing begin!
Welcome to my blog! This was a BIG, no, enormous step for me. You see I love blogs, as a matter of fact I am a “blogstalker!” Late at night when I can’t sleep I cruise around from one blog to another and before I know it….well it is time to get some sleep. So with encouragement from my daughter who is a computer guru and graphic designer (how intimidating!) I decided I would blog. I mean what the heck, who’s gonna read it anyway! Right???
So here is the deal. I am going to show you some of the things I love and love to do. I do not think that I know more about decorating, gardening, etc than the next gal, I am just sharing ideas. Everyones home is just that …theirs… and I believe a home is supposed to reflect who they are not how much they spend. Next, I am going to TRY not to bore you with constant pictures of my adorable grand babies. So I will limit this to once a week or so. Although, I will go ahead and clear the air on that subject. My grand babies are without a doubt the smartest and most beautiful babies EVER born. So if you think you know of any that are cuter or smarter…well you are just wrong! Cruise on to another blog. hehehe
Seriously, I believe laughter, hugs (and especially prayer) can cure all things so I hope I can bring you a smile or help you find a creative outlet to get you through a rough patch. Even better….maybe you can do these things for me! So give me a few days and let me figure this blogging thing out…….until then….Gigi
